How can I change my bedroom subtly to make a big difference?

July 25th, 2010

I have a pretty big bedroom so I have enough room for dressers, desk, bookcase, bed, drum set, and some other table and shelving surfaces. I love the way everything is arranged because I can get around easily and find everything I need.

However, I need change! I used to always move furniture when I was sick of the way the room looked, but I like the arrangement. How else can I make the room a little different? Spice it up? I’m planning on moving my posters into different places (I like the ones I have up), but that doesn’t seem like enough. A change in my room tends to make me want to keep it cleaner and I enjoy spending time in it more.

Thanks for your help!

Who should get the bedroom?

July 15th, 2010

My husband, our son and I are downgrading to a one bedroom apartment to save money for a house. We plan on turning our living into a bedroom by night. We have a king size bed with a huge headboard and drawers in the footboard. We also have two large matching dressers (one of which is very long with a mirror). Our son, has a bedroom set also. He is 6 and has a large bed with a bookcase headboard and two dressers. We want to know if we should give our 6 year old in the bedroom or give him the livingroom?
Kandi M…Maybe you are not feeling the pressure of the money crunch, but majority of us are. Also, maybe you already have your dream home but most of us are trying to save for it. I congratulate you on being the richest most all together person, but I am doing my best like everyone else. My son has a roof over his head, food in his stomach, every toy he has ever asked for and he does not need or want for anything. We are trying to save money to buy a home. I don’t think that it makes us bad parents in any way.

What should I use to clean furniture contaminated by mold that won't hurt particleboard and wood finishes?

June 28th, 2010

I recently moved all of my furniture that had been in a climate-controlled storage unit for 1 year into my new apartment. My couch grew mold in the storage unit, so I threw it out. The rest of my furniture is primarily particleboard (bookcases, dressers, etc.) and some wood. What should I use to clean this furniture to make sure that there is no mold on it and that won’t destroy the furniture? Thank you!

How should I redo my room?

April 29th, 2010

My room is REALLY cluttered- I have a desk, two dressers (one tall, one wide), a bookcase, a cage for my doggy and of course, a bed. I also have a closet, but my room is kind of small. I think I should start by cleaning out my closet and getting rid of a lot of stuff, but I am open to suggestions. I just cleaned out my bookcase and plan on keeping only 3 or 4 novels that I will soon read and maybe a dictionary or two. What else should I do? Should I do an ENTIRE bedroom makeover? (Yes, I AM a pack rat!)
and youyou- who asked you?
